Our Dynamic Duo at the age of 3

I can’t believe we have 2 THREE YEAR OLDS!  I say that every month as they grow up into such awesome little people in front of our very eyes.  It is without a doubt the neatest thing ever to watch their personalities develop- they make me laugh constantly!

I want to recap this endearing age to be sure I don’t forget:

MAE

Our little girl is definitely the introspective thinker.  There is so much going on in that mind!  She can process things that seriously amaze us.  She is very shy to new experiences and people but not at home on her turf in her familiar surroundings.  She definitely wants to sit back, watch things and be cautious.  No daredevil here.  I feel like she has an old soul and is already wise beyond her years.  It almost seems like when Mac dominates her for a toy, she just gives in because in the scheme of life she understands how trivial it is.  She is super conscientious, perceptive and meticulous with a definite dose of girly drama.  She (in stark contrast with her brother) does NOT wear her emotions on her sleeve and is far less animated.  She doesn’t readily show enthusiasm---she rarely looks overly impressed by anything, yes at the young age of 3! But on the inside, she is taking it all in and will reference her excitement or happiness later.  She just doesn’t necessarily convey it at the time. She is usually ready for bed, likes routine, is comforted by order and sequence and can lie in her crib for hours awake entertaining herself singing, talking or reading.  In the confines of our home, little Miss Mae is definitely the leader.

MAC

Our little man is such a charmer. Between his big blue eyes, nicely “highlighted” blond hair and a smile that will melt your heart, he keeps us entertained constantly.  He truly makes us laugh out loud.  He can be so sweet and when he knows he’s being sweet, and then he’s even sweeter.  He loves anything animated- birthday #3 included a magician and the smile on his face and the enthusiasm that he displayed was priceless.  It certainly seems that he wears his emotions on his sleeves---he shows such levels of excitement but then when he doesn’t get what he wants, he also isn’t bashful in showing it.  Definitely what you see is what you get.  He is all boy and does try to dominate his sister- he is also very kind and thoughtful to her but if he wants a toy, he will bulldoze to get it. He is the far more outgoing child in our family- he has really come out of his shell at preschool and is much more open to new experiences like going to the dentist, getting a haircut, etc.   In stark contrast to his sister, Mac is NEVER ready for bed---he never wants the party to end!  In the big outside world, Mr. Mac walks first holding his sisters hand so she can follow.
